Directions
to Hunt Countries
Crab Orchard Country
From Lexington:
Take 27 south to Lancaster. (From Man O War this is nearly
30 miles)
Go through the town of Lancaster, after you pass the stock yards
look for 39. (do not turn onto 39 on the north side of town YOU
MUST go through the town and past the stock yards) Turn Left
onto 39, proceed for 6.7 miles. Turn right onto Preachersville
Road. This is a narrow road be careful of Amish buggies.
Continue down Preachersville Road for about 1.5 miles to the
Adams driveway on the left. Please take the second drive when
hauling trailers and drive through the creek to the rear of the
property.
Optional directions:
(please note you will have to cross a narrow bridge)
Take 27 South through Lancaster and continue on to the
intersection of 150 & 27. Turn left onto 150. Proceed going
east on 150 approximately 2.3 miles until you reach
Preachersville Road on your left. Turn left onto Preachersville
Road. Proceed several miles you will pass Swope Road and go over
a steel span bridge. After crossing bridge Adams driveway will
be the second driveway on the right.
From Louisville:
I 64 East towards Lexington. Take exit 53A US 127 South for
6.9 miles. US 127 becomes 127 bypass for 6.6 miles. Bypass turns
back into US 127 S for 22.2 miles. Stay straight to go onto
US-127 Bypass S/N Danville bypass. Stay on this for 7.5 miles. N
Danville bypass becomes US 150 E for 6.43 miles. Stay straight
on US150 bypass for 3.15 miles. US 150 bypass becomes US 150
Crab Orchard. Cross the intersection of 27 then start looking
for Preachersville Road on your right it will be 2.3 miles after
crossing 27. Turn left onto Preachersville road and proceed
several miles until you cross over a steel span bridge. Second
driveway on your right is the Adams driveway.
Hicks
Take Hwy 27 all the way THROUGH Lancaster. Go past the first Hwy 39 on the north side of town; go all the way through downtown, past the stockyards, past Gov. Owsley's mansion, then turn LEFT on the second Hwy 39 and go about 2 1/2 miles to Gilberts Creek Road (KY 642); turn right (that's the only way you can turn). Take Gilberts Creek to Goshen Road, turn left. Continue on Goshen Road to Goshen Church Road and turn left again. Follow this to the end of the road and turn right into the farmyard. Park to the right hand side of the driveway.
Landmarks: After you turn left on Hwy 39 (which is the way to the Adams) you will pass #1 a welding business (Steven Crouch Welding on the right hand side on top of a hill) and then in another 1/2 mile or so, #2 an old Federal-style house on your right. The right turn onto Gilberts Creek is shortly thereafter. IF YOU MISS the turn, you will come to Gilberts Creek Baptist Church (on right) and you can turn around in the parking lot and backtrack.
When you're on Gilberts Creek Road, you will pass a good-sized black barn on your left. This is where we used to park when we first hunted that country. The left turn onto Goshen Road is just a short way after the black barn.
Shaker Village
Country
From Lexington:
Take New Circle Road to Harrodsburg Road. Take Harrodsburg
Road (away from Lexington) cross Man O War and proceed on
Harrodsburg Road west for 9.2 miles. When you come to a Y in the
road bear to your right staying on 68 and continue for 9.4
miles. You will cross over the Kentucky River and wind your way
back up on the other side. The main entrance to Shakertown will
be on your right. Enter through the main entrance and proceed tp
the stop sign. Turn left at the stop sign and follow this road
all the way to the “west lot.” ( You will come to another
stop sign where you will need to turn right and go up the hill
towards the cattle barns.)
From Louisville:
Take I 64 toward Lexington. Take the KY 151 exit number 48
toward US 127 Graefenburg/Lawrenceburg. Merge onto KY 151
proceed 6.6 miles. Turn Right onto 127 Bypass S for 6.6 miles.
The bypass turns in toUS 127 S proceed 15.3 miles. Turn left
onto US 68/KY-152 Lexington St. Follow this 7.9 miles to the
Shaker Village entrance.
Woodford Country
From Lexington:
Take Versailles Road to the Bluegrass parkway. Merge onto the
Bluegrass Parkway. The first exit is for RT 33 ( Versailles) go
south on RT 33 for 5.4 miles to Fords Mill Road. Turn right on
to Fords Mill Road and proceed west until you reach the junction
(Y) of Sellers Mill Rd. Continue straight but slow down as the
“Quarry” will be on your right ¼ of a mile.
From Louisville:
Take I 64 East towards Lexington. Take the US 60 exit #58. Go
south on US 60 towards Versailles 9.38 miles. You will go
through the center of Versailles (DO NOT take us 60 W as that
goes to Lexington) Stay on US 60 E, it becomes KY 33. Proceed on
KY 33 for 7.45 miles then turn right onto Fords Mill Road.
Proceed on Fords Mill Road west until you reach the junction (Y)
of Sellers Mill Rd. Continue straight but slow down as the
“Quarry” will be on your right ¼ of a mile.
Boston Hunt Country
From Lexington:
Take the Bluegrass Parkway West (58 Miles from KY 33) to Exit 10
Boston/New Haven. Turn right onto KY 52 go 2.1 miles to “T”
junction. Turn right onto US 62 / KY 61. Proceed to KY 733 and
turn right follow to Timber Mill on your left.
From Louisville:
Take I 65 south to exit 105. Turn left onto KY 61 and follow
south to Boston. Turn left onto KY 62. Turn right on 733 and
follow to Timer Mill. |
